Samba
Samba is one of many cats who develop Interstitial Cystitis, a condition that causes of thickening of the internal lining of the bladder with associated irritation, including blood in the urine. Sometimes it produces crystals, but not in her case. This condition is generally well maintained with daily treatment using Amitriptyline. During flare ups, which are rare after initiating the medication, sub-Q fluids are included in the treatment to flush the bladder and antibiotics as needed for infection. Stephanie Hope Bittrolff fell in love with Samba and adopted her into her home for a bed buddy and company for her dog, Pebbles. Months later, Stephanie writes:
“Samba has been doing great! She is an incredibly happy lap cat and I feel so fortunate that you allowed me to take her home ^^ Here is a picture of her with a lion cut for the summer with Pebbles, her canine buddy. Thank you so much for bringing this little angel into our lives! She hasn't had any cystitis flare ups and she has a healthy appetite!”

Dusty, a beautiful flame lynx point Himalayan, was diagnosed with stomatitis (inflammation of the gums) and IBD (irritable bowel disease). A stunning lynx point at seven months old, his breeding career ended at four years of age. Those two medical challenges didn’t stop Tom and Kathy Wynegar from making Dusty a treasured member of their family. In Kathy’s words:
“Dusty came to us with some known but manageable health needs. He needs some extra care, but it is a joy to take care of such a great companion! He is the perfect kitty - loves being around people, loves being on laps, even loved being around a visitor who never had a pet before, who never had someone else's pet respond positively to him (see picture). Jeanne made the transition to our home super easy with complete health care needs and history, and continues supporting him with questions answered and excellent advice. Thank you, Jeanne, for sharing this snuggly and playful boy with us!”
