Memorial for Rags
Rags left us all too soon, unexpectedly, at the young age of three years. He died just three days shy of his follow-up cardiac ultrasound appointment. His veterinarian believes he had an arrythmia that caused a sudden cardiac death. That would account for the fluid she found in his lungs at necropsy. To be sure it wasn't an early onset of HCM, Rags' heart was sent to a cardiologist for histopathology. Result: He had a normal heart structure. There was no evidence of HCM.
Rags was the son of CH Nestlenook Shrek of Donegal and Donegal's Impression of Monet, both of whom are still alive and well as of October, 2013. Carrying chocolate and dilute Rags was a very valuable asset to Donegal Cattery's chocolate program. He was the result of the only pregnancy Monet was able to carry to term, after numerous pregnancy losses. Monet had low progesterone, so with the assistance of progesterone shots, Rags was born. He was a miracle baby who became a gentle giant, both with his dams and his people. Fortunately, he left us with his daughter, Alex (by Samba) and two sons, Chip and Dusty (by Ginger), to carry on his legacy. Rags' sweet nature and love of human attention makes this an especially sad loss
